Going Green Globally

the impact of being sustainable

No matter who you are or where you live in the world, we all share at least one basic thing, we all live on one planet. Regardless of one’s belief of Global Warming, majority of the world’s population would agree that we need to protect our planet and make it a place where our future generations can thrive. We must work together in creating new innovative ways to reduce our footprints in the places we call home. This must be done on a global level for there to be the best impact.
The United State’s Environmental Protection Agency defines the need of sustainability as “a result of significant concerns about the unintended social, environmental, and economic consequences of rapid population growth, economic growth and consumption of our natural resources”. But this is way more than just an issue in one country. In 2014 the United Nations launched a project called “The Sustainable Development Knowledge Platform”. Each year the project will release a report that illustrates a range of potential content, alternative approaches, and various ways of participation for each of the member states involved.
So many of the world’s other problems can be solved through making our planet for “green”. We’re searching for innovation, we will get that from aspiring minds studying in school. We create a thirst for education, which leads to less poverty. Less poverty creates a higher demand for just about everything, in turn creating more employment. We use goals set by the U.N. as stepping stones, one from the next to strengthen and push forward the last achievement reached. This strengthens weak struggling nations, giving more global citizens a shot at a better quality of life.
There are so many ways to extend the life of our planet. We need bureaucracy and ambition to team up and push an agenda. According to Global Agenda Survey, sustainability concerns were among the top ten concerns of people worldwide. With this many people focused on the problem, we will achieve, we will strive, and we will succeed in creating a better world for tomorrow.
