He is the father of Oscar-winning actress and friend Vanessa Redgrave; but even before then, he was a friend of the United Nations and as many of the period who had hope that diplomacy and the new global body would usher in a fresh era of mutual respect and peace.  These three photographs date back to 1956 in the early stages of the UN’s global citizen outreach program, although the term “global citizen” was yet to catch on and Michael Redgrave was still to be titled a “Sir.” Vanessa Redgrave has taken up the role of global activism, and along with her father, they are among those who have not only innovated but help define the term “Diplomat-Artist.”
